Ashfield U3A Discussion Group

The Discussion Group for Ashfield U3A commenced on Monday 19th March, from 13:30 to 15:15 on the upper floor of Kirkby Library, when guidelines for future meetings were discussed. It is hoped to have a varied and interesting mixture of topics. Please bring along any literature which may help the discussion. The co-ordinator is Maxine Rose and the meetings will be headed by Lynne Jackson.

A typical meeting is similar to the one held on 11th June, 2007 where 12 members discussed the topic "From where should we get our energy?" There was a very interesting and lively debate on:

  • biofuels
  • marine renewable energy
  • laser fusion
  • wind turbines
  • solar water heating
  • nuclear power
  • fossil fuel
  • green party
  • road pricing
  • pay-as-you-throw rubbish schemes
  • what can we do with all the CO2 produced?

If you would like to join, please telephone Maxine on 01623-459081 for a chat, or email Maxine for more details.
