Ashfield U3A Family History Group

Trish Tootell is now co-ordinating the group, which continues to meet on the second Thursday in Kirkby Library, but now at 13:00 - 15:00.

Each session will have a group discussion on a pre-arranged topic, then will access the library computers for the second part of the meeting. New members will be assisted on the computers by the more experienced members and there will also be opportunities for problem solving, or how to get over the "brick wall" that we all reach at times! New members are welcome. We use websites available from the library computers for genealogy. The cost is £5 per 'term' to cover room hire.

Anyone interested in joining should ring Trish on 01623-793447 (or email Trish) or ring Lynne Jackson on 01623-750466, or alternatively, come along to the meeting.

The objectives of the group are threefold:
  • To inspire people who are interested in history
  • To support those who wish to follow the footsteps of their ancestors, and those who want to trace local, industrial or social history
  • To provide help by suggesting new avenues of research and the opportunity to share experiences.
