Ashfield U3A Wine Appreciation Group

The group's aim is to develop members' knowledge and enjoyment of wine through formal and informal tastings of wines, by specified groups or grape varieties. Hopefully, the evenings will have an informal and friendly, sociable structure and be rotated around the homes of members. The cost of wines will be limited to an agreed budget each month and will be shared amongst members. The group normally meets on the second Wednesday of the month.

Further details may be obtained from the co-ordinator, John Ellis. Telephone 01623-620743.

Members meet at John's in January 2009 for Burn's Night and below for Christmas 2008.
The January meeting saw the group meet for a Burns supper, enjoying haggis, neeps &
tatties, accompanied by a selection of wines and finishing with a whisky tasting. John gave
the Immortal Address, the haggis was killed by Len in his usual enthusiastic manner, and
the address to the lassies was given by Geoff with a reply by Ann. Other members of the
group read poems.

Members meet at Dennis & Margaret's in July 2008 to study Spanish Whites.
